The DTLJ Education Trust initiative is an effort launched by the family of late YAM Datuk Seri Temenggong Oyong Paul Lawai Jau (DTOLJ), who is from the most populous segment of the Orang Ulu in Sarawak – the Kenyah and the Kayan.
The profits from cultural activities, sale of handcrafted products or donations will go towards the funding the education of the youth of the community. Not only does the Trust aim to provide better education, but it also hopes to create jobs and promoting preservation of the Orang Ulu culture.
DTLJ Education Fund has four charters:
1) Providing opportunity for education and special education to the children of Kayan and Kenyah community
2) Preservation of culture of the Kayan and Kenyah community and promote cultural heritage as tool to relief poverty
3) Youth development of the Kayan and Kenyah community
4) Sustainability for all three pillars mentioned above
